The Kansas City Model Employer Initiative in support of National Disability Employment Awareness Month

On October 19, 2022, the City of Kansas City formally recognized October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month and announced a new initiative, in partnership with Summit Future Foundation, to make the City of Kansas City a Model Employer.

The Model Employer Initiative is designed to increase the City of Kansas City’s inclusion of persons with disabilities in their general workforce, as well as to embed best practices of disability inclusion into the City’s civil rights and equal opportunity efforts.

We are thrilled to have the opportunity to be a dedicated partner to the City of Kansas City on this initiative and look forward to sharing how our collective efforts create more inclusive employment opportunities in our community.

We would like to thank Councilwomen Heather Stewart Hall KC for sponsoring this proclamation, as well as Andrea Dorch, Civil Rights Director and Teri Casey, Human Resources Director, for your commitment to make the City of Kansas City a Model Employer.
